چکیده
In Japan, broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. Italica) is primarily harvested manually. Some Japanese cultivars have short stems, but these heads are more difficult to harvest, and complicate the introduction of mechanical harvesters. Therefore, research focused on strategies control stem length. The present study examined effects plant hormone gibberellin (GA) morphological agronomic traits shoots. cultivar ‘SK9-099’, widely distributed in Japan characterized by a stem, was studied. These experiments were conducted over three cropping seasons, i.e., spring (Exp. 1), summer 2), fall 3), with four GA treatment plots at 0 ppm (Control), 20 ppm, 100 500 ppm. This observed that, average, elongated length from approximately 16.0 cm plot 24.7 for without decreasing yield. addition, accelerated apical bud growth shortened overall period 16 days compared fall, equivalent 20.5% transplantation harvest latter. This highlights several practical benefits application growers, minimizing manual harvesting labor, avoid designing harvesters short-stemmed cultivars, increase field usage efficiency shortening period.

Gibberellin-auxin interaction in pea stem elongation.
Joint application of gibberellic acid and indole-3-acetic acid to excised stem sections, terminal cuttings, and decapitated plants of a green dwarf pea results in a markedly synergistic growth response to these hormones. Synergism in green tall pea stem sections is comparatively small, although growth is kinetically indistinguishable from similarly treated dwarf sections.Gibberellin-induced gro...
متن کاملThe Control of Apical Bud Growth and Senescence by Auxin and Gibberellin in Genetic Lines of Peas.
Pea (Pisum sativum L.) lines G2 (dwarf) and NGB1769 (tall) (Sn Hr) produce flowers and fruit under long (LD) or short (SD) days, but senesce only under LD. Endogenous gibberellin (GA) levels were inversely correlated with photoperiod (over 9-18 h) and senescence: GA20 was 3-fold and GA1 was 10- to 11-fold higher in flowering SD G2 shoots, and the vegetative tissues within the SD apical bud cont...
متن کاملSelenium-Induced Toxicity Is Counteracted by Sulfur in Broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica)
Selenium (Se) is an essential micronutrient for humans. Increasing Se content in food crops offers an effective approach to enhance the consumption of Se in human diets. A thoroughly understanding of the effects of Se on plant growth is important for Se biofortification in food crops. Given that Se is an analog of sulfur (S) and can be toxic to plants, its effect on plant growth is expected to ...
متن کاملMechanism of gibberellin-dependent stem elongation in peas.
Stem elongation in peas (Pisum sativum L.) is under partial control by gibberellins, yet the mechanism of such control is uncertain. In this study, we examined the cellular and physical properties that govern stem elongation, to determine how gibberellins influence pea stem growth. Stem elongation of etiolated seedlings was retarded with uniconozol, a gibberellin synthesis inhibitor, and the ...
متن کاملChromosome Doubling of Microspore-Derived Plants from Cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.) and Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica L.)
Chromosome doubling of microspore-derived plants is an important factor in the practical application of microspore culture technology because breeding programs require a large number of genetically stable, homozygous doubled haploid plants with a high level of fertility. In the present paper, 29 populations of microspore-derived plantlets from cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) and brocc...
